At Barcelona School of Civil Engineering we are proud to join the worldwide movement in recognition of the International Day of Women in Engineering. This day serves as a reminder of the important contributions that women have made in the field of engineering and their valuable role in shaping the future of engineering.
As part of our social commitment, we are promoting the inclusion of the gender perspective in our degrees' curricula and for this reason we have already carried out some workshops, such as the one on inclusive language, and we are writing a guide on how to teach in university with a gender perspective in the field of civil engineering.
Although there is still a long way to go, we are encouraged by the progress we have made since the founding of our School almost 50 years ago. Lately we have seen a constant percentage of female students in the Degree in Civil Engineering, up to approximately 30%; which reaches almost 50% in the Degree in Environmental Engineering.
On this International Day of Women in Engineering, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in our field and recognize the importance of creating an inclusive environment. Together, we want to inspire the next generation of female engineers and empower them to drive innovation and address global civil and environmental engineering challenges.
Happy International Day of Women in Engineering!
