The tribute to the academic and professional career of Professor Eduardo Alonso will take place on May 31st in the Auditorium of Barcelona School of Civil Engineering.

Program

Ph.D. in Civil Engineering by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 1969 and by Northwestern University in 1973.

He has worked for Rodio España (1969-71), has been a Research Student at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois (1971-73), Research Associate at McGill University in Montreal (1973-74), Associate Professor (1974-86) at UPC BarcelonaTech and since 1986 Full Professor at the latter.

He has taught soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geotechnics and foundations, probability and risk in geotechnics, soil dynamics, constitutive equations, and tunnels and underground excavations.

He has published more than four hundred articles in international journals and naciotal and international symposia, most of which were as an invited lecturer.

His research fields inclkude probability and statistics in soil mechanics, unsaturated soil mechanics, rock mechanics and thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviour of soils, loose materials dams and estability of landslides.
