Within the framework of International Women's Day (March 8th) and the Sustainability Conference Series, the session on February 25th will analyze how to design safer and more equitable cities through active mobility.
On the eve of International Women's Day, the School of Civil Engineering becomes the setting for the "Women in Motion: Rethinking Active Mobility" conference. This event, part of the research project BarcelonaBases, aims to rethink our cities to make them more inclusive and safe, focusing on the urgent need to apply a gender perspective to urban design and transport systems.
Led by researchers from the School of Engineering, Margarita Martínez, Elisabet Roca, Gabriel Carvalho, and Francesc Soriguera, the BarcelonaBases project proposes a cross-cutting approach that unites engineering, planning, and social commitment.
The event is notable for the high caliber of the speakers and the diversity of stakeholders involved, reflecting the capacity of Barcelona School of Civil Engineering to connect research with the real world:
- Administration and Institutions: FGC, Barcelona City Council, AMB, ATM and Barcelona Provincial Council.
- Research and Innovation: ISGlobal, UAB and the UPC itself.
- Civil Society: Ecom Federation, BACC, Catalunya Camina and Colectivo Punt 6.
Roundtable discussions will take place throughout the morning, and in the afternoon, participants will take part in a co-creative session. The aim of this workshop is to propose real and applicable solutions to the current challenges of inclusive active mobility.
