Professor Eugenio Oñate, former director and founder of the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) at the UPC and professor emeritus at Barcelona School of Civil Engineering, has received the 2024 National Research Award for scientific excellence. In the young researcher category, the award went to engineer Víctor Vilarrasa, an alumnus of the School of Civil Engineering.
Engineer Eugenio Oñate, distinguished researcher at the Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) and emeritus professor at Barcelona School of Civil Engineering, has been recognized with one of the 2024 National Research Awards, specifically in the "Leonardo Torres Quevedo" category, in the area of engineering and architecture. The award, worth 30,000 euros, recognizes his scientific excellence and his professional and academic career in the development of innovative numerical methods for solving complex problems in structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, and coupled engineering applications.
