Seminario de Dr. Sinan Açikgöz

Thursday, June 19, 2025

The first part of the presentation will delve into research on characterising masonry materials, specifically lime and plaster mortars and clay bricks. The discussion will highlight the use of full-field surface imaging data and inverse identification techniques (via the Virtual Fields Method and Williams' series) for elasticity and fracture characterisation. This will be followed by a brief discussion on current work in phase field model updating and volumetric imaging.

The second part of the presentation will focus on addressing the modelling and monitoring of historic construction materials. The modelling segment will showcase new tools for assessing building damage due to ground movements. The monitoring segment will introduce a novel site measurement technique that enables full-field displacement and crack measurements of structures from point cloud data.
