Eugenio Oñate, professor emeritus at Barcelona Shool of Civil Engineering, has been awarded the 2024 National Research Prize (in Engineering and Architecture) for his career path and scientific contributions.
The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), Diana Morant, has announced the recipients of the 2024 National Research Awards, which have 20 categories with 30,000 euros each and are "Spain's most important recognition in the field of scientific research”.
The National Research Award in the Leonardo Torres Quevedo category has been awarded to Professor Eugenio Oñate for his career and international relevance in the field of Computational Mechanics. His pioneering contributions in the development of computational methods for engineering applications and the foundation of the CIMNE (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering), a reference institution at national and international level are amongs the most highlighted.
Professor Oñate is a recognized expert in computational mechanics and advanced materials, and a professor emeritus at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a distinguished researcher at the CIMNE and president of the Board of Trustees of the IMDEA Materials Institute.
